Training for various clinical pictures (SEN)
In our unit "Training for Specific Medical Conditions" of the Senior Trainer Training, participants learn about various medical conditions that occur more frequently with advancing age. Initially, the course covers the peculiarities of working with seniors and the changes in bodily function systems as the body ages.
Subsequently, exercises are developed collaboratively to assist with typical medical conditions.
The number of older adults is increasing worldwide. This also means that the number of people with age-related illnesses is rising. These illnesses can affect various areas of the body and significantly impact the quality of life of those affected. Some of these illnesses include: arthritis, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. Illnesses influence our daily lives and often our ability to engage in regular exercise. This is especially true for older individuals who often suffer from one or more chronic illnesses. For fitness studios and trainers, this means they must increasingly address the issue of illnesses and develop the appropriate training methods for their older clientele.
Physical inactivity is a significant risk factor for many chronic illnesses, particularly those of the musculoskeletal system. The passive musculoskeletal system includes bones, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Changes in the passive musculoskeletal system often occur in older people, such as claw toes, bow legs, or age-related kyphosis. These changes can limit a persons mobility and cause pain.
Emphasis is also placed on the methodological approach and age-appropriate instructions. Through targeted training, older adults can improve their mobility and alleviate pain.
Many people suffer from one or more of these conditions and seek ways to improve their health. Fitness is an important component of health and a major factor in the prevention and treatment of illnesses. Medical conditions can be improved through regular and specific training.
Its essential for participants in the unit to receive a clear guide on how to conduct training interventions for the respective medical conditions. Of course, participants are also informed about contraindications.
